Our History


Mass spectrometry is an extremely accurate method of analyzing the composition of a wide variety of substances ranging from solids, powders, crystals, liquids, organometallics, and ash from organic materials.

A machine called a mass spectrometer produces charged particles (ions) from the chemical substance being analyzed. The mass spectrometer then uses electric and magnetic fields to determine the mass of the ions. A trained mass spectrometrist can interpret the masses and relative quantities of ions in a mass spectrum to calculate the composition of the substance.
